Walhalla, Australia in the spring

Here in southwestern Virginia we have just awakened to the second
hard frost of the fall season, but our friends in Australia are
currently basking in the warmth and beauty of spring. Today's
picture by photographer Neil Fletcher clearly shows that the flowers
are in bloom and the trees have now adorned themselves with a brand
new "coat" of leaves. Yes, spring has sprung in the land "Down
Under"!
This peaceful scene features the historic town of Walhalla
which is located in the Australian state of Victoria. Walhalla was
once one of the richest towns in all of Australia thanks to the
discovery of gold in the area in 1863. At the height of its gold
mining era the town was home to more than 4,000 people, but after
the boom turned to bust most of them left to pursue their fortunes
elsewhere. Today, less than 20 people make their home in this scenic
little town.

Today’s photo from Mr. Fletcher is very pretty. What a beautiful
location! My sister in law lives in Australia part of the year and
it is a place that I would really like to visit someday.
