"Discovering Washington State"

Today's picture by photographer Robert McCadden features yet another
example of the striking beauty of the Pacific Northwest and the
magnificent state of Washington. Here is his story behind the image:
"This was taken during a five day road/camping trip around the
Columbia Gorge and the
Palouse with my family. The exposure was
captured on Tuesday, May 27 at around 7:30 am outside of
Colfax,
Washington.
The weather wasn't the greatest during my trip, but
there is a
sort
of photographic magic that occurs in the Palouse
when the
right
elements do come together (which I believe happens
quite
a bit in
these parts). This was shot with a 200mm lens to
compress the
rolling hills against each other.
My interest in photography has been a blessing for my family as
it
has brought us together for some very memorable trips and
experiences. My wife Luciana who is from Brazil and has only been
in
the US for four years has now seen more of my home state
of
Washington than I did during the first thirty years of my life. My
four year old son Manoel is loving the outdoors as well, he just
completed his first backpacking trip (eight miles on Lake Chelan in
100 degree temperatures) and can't wait to do more."
