Old Barn Beside The Virginia Creeper Trail

An old barn beside the Virginia Creeper Trail.

We took a walk on the Virginia Creeper Trail a few days ago, and as always I took my camera along with me so that I could take pictures of the things that interested me along the way. We had hiked perhaps a half-mile when we came upon the scene in today's picture.

Since much of the Creeper Trail crosses private land, you'll see numerous houses, barns and pasture fields as you make your way from Abingdon, Virginia to Whitetop Station. This rustic old barn in the Watauga community came into view when we passed by a rare opening in the trees that line that section of the trail.

One of the neatest things about this wonderful hiking and biking trail is how there are so many beautiful and interesting things to see as you pass through some of the most spectacular countryside in the world. Ever so beautiful, peaceful and relaxing, this is rural America at its best.
