Picture of the day - July 28, 2008
"Wheatfield sunset"

As today's picture by photographer Aneta Blaszczyk clearly
demonstrates, you don't necessarily have to hop on a plane and fly
away
to some exotic locale in order to create a photographic masterpiece.
All that's really needed to "shoot" a wall-hanger pretty much
anywhere on earth is the combination of a pretty scene, a few basic
camera skills and an artistic imagination.
The lovely scene above features an ordinary sunset over an ordinary
wheatfield, but the extremely shallow depth of field and perfect
backlighting give it a touch of the surreal. Here are the camera and
settings used to capture this stunning image:
Camera: Sony DSC-R1
Shutter speed: 1/1000 of a second
Focal length: 72mm
Aperture: f/8
ISO: 160
Exposure compensation: +0.7 step
