"White Eye and Apricot Blossoms"
"White Eyes" are among the most distinctive birds on the
planet thanks to their...well...white eyes! Today's picture by
photographer Makio Kusahara features a very pretty White Eye perched
and posing for the camera on an apricot branch. These pint-sized
aviators just love apricot trees, and this one sure seems to be
quite contented sitting among the blossoms!
Here are the camera and settings used to capture this image:
Camera: Olympus E-520

As a bird and wildlife photographer myself, I can appreciate the
combination of skill, timing, and just a bit of luck that goes into
capturing an image of an "energetic" bird like this. It's also
interesting to see a species we don't get in North America; the
White-Eye is native to Japan, although it is common in Hawaii after
being introduced there in the 1920's. Well done, Makio!

Stunning photo! I don't know which is prettier, the bird or the
apricot blossoms.
