"Winter in the Smokies"

Photographer Gordon Brugman lives in beautiful Gatlinburg,
Tennessee, the small, yet bustling town that serves as the gateway
to Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This means of course that he has had
many opportunities to photograph the region's astounding natural
beauty, and after seeing some of his fine work I have come to the
conclusion that he has taken great advantage of many of those
opportunities.
Today's picture features a lovely Smoky Mountain winter scene, and
the following is Mr. Brugman's story behind the image:
“A wedding chapel along Gatlinburg, Tennessee’s East Parkway
takes
on a storybook appearance following a recent snowfall. Taken
in the
early morning, before the first happy couple arrived, the
snow-
covered trees surrounding the chapel formed the perfect frame
for
a bright future’s beginning. A technique called “Ortonizing” was
applied to the image in Photoshop CS4 to create an even more
dreamlike atmosphere. More information about this technique can
be
found
here.” --Gordon Brugman

Very nice picture today by Mr. Brugman. I like the “Ortonizing”
effect used to give it the dreamy effect. I should investigate how
this is done.

Amazing scene. Looks like it was taken right off of a Christmas
card. Excellent job!!!

I like this photo a lot. The softness, the lighting, and the dreamy
effect of the "Ortonizing" processing all come together for a very
pleasing and well-done piece. With a wreath above the door, this
would make a perfect Christmas card...

This looks more like a scene from right here in New England than one
from Tennessee. I have visited the Smokies three times in recent
years, but always in the summer. This is an amazing photograph.

I really love the look the Ortonizing effect gives this image. It
would be a great picture without it of course, but with it it is
simply stunning.

That's a beautiful winter image today from Gordon Brugman! I really
appreciate what the photographer endures in the winter to bring us
great shots like this. Even more so since it was shot on my camera
of choice -the Nikon D40! And thanks for the link to Ortonizing,
I'll be sure to check it out too.
