"Winter Sunset"

Now that we're in mid-September it won't be long before the
nighttime temperatures here in the mountains of southwestern
Virginia begin to dip below the freezing mark and snow begins to
fall, and I for one am not looking forward to it at all. I'm rather
partial to warm weather, but like it or not winter is quickly
approaching and there isn't a thing I can do to keep it south of the
equator.
But although wintertime isn't my favorite time of the year, it does
have its good points. Take photography for example...
Some of the most beautiful photographs I have ever seen depict
snow-covered landscapes, ice-encrusted streams, and a number of
other "signs" of the winter season that often go unnoticed until
some photographer uses his/her camera skills and a healthy dose of
imagination to capture the beauty that God blesses us with during
cold weather.
Today's picture by photographer Andreas Aierstock is a perfect
example. It features a beautiful wintertime sunset the likes of
which I have seen countless times over the years, but rarely taken
the time to truly enjoy because I was usually in a hurry to get
inside where it was warm and cozy. Although you can almost feel the
chill in the air, there is also a certain peace that an image like
this conveys - sort of a reminder that there is good in everything
that our Creator does even when it doesn't quite fit in with our
personal preferences.
