Wintertime in the Rockies

For nature lovers, the
Rocky Mountains of western
North America
offer countless opportunities to enjoy some of God's most amazing
handiwork up close and personal. But the invention of the camera
brought the stunning beauty of the Rockies right into the homes and
minds of millions who will never have the opportunity to visit them
in person, and today's picture features an excellent example of the
stunning vistas that can be enjoyed from both near and far.
I grew up in the southern
Appalachians, and these beautiful old
mountains will always hold a very special place in my heart and
mind. Their rounded, tree-covered peaks and scenic river valleys
offer plenty of spectacular vistas of their own, and the history,
traditions and culture of the Appalachian region are as much a part
of me as are my skin, bones and blood. I absolutely love these
wonderful mountains, and as long as I have a choice I'll never live
anywhere else. But when it comes to sheer breathtaking beauty, I
must admit that the towering Rockies are in a class all their own.
Photographer Dorian Widling captured this gorgeous image showcasing
the amazing beauty of a winter day in the Rockies. When God paints a
picture the result is nothing short of fantastic, and the Rocky
Mountains sure make a wonderful canvas.
